Reed, 1/4 from Seattle band Beat Connection, is venturing on a new solo project called Dutty Wilderness. He’s introducing his work with a 12-track EP that takes cues from all ends of hip hop production & electronic music, fusing disjunct samples into skewed hip hop sketches.

"The aim was to produce rough drafts paying homage to a variety of producers and styles both new and old, pulling feels from the usual cast of hip hop producers (J Dilla, Primo, Large Professor, RZA) as well as new comers and outsiders (Star Slinger, Zomby, Hit-Boy, Teams, TNGHT). This mix hits a few different moods, from bleak grooves (In Denying It…, Leave Home, Dull Knife) to huge 808 slappers and breaks (21st Century Tear Drops, Digital Holler) with psychedelic sliced up samples in between (Little Heart, Wants To Do)." - Reed
