Liminal Sounds + London + event + free EP + Youngstar +

04. 19

10 years on from the release of the original, Liminal Sounds is extremely proud to be able to present to you 3 reworks of Youngstar’s seminal “Pulse X”. Widely considered to be the first grime tune ever made, “Pulse X” is one of the most important, influential + recognizable tracks the scene has ever birthed. Such is the power & impact of the track that it still regularly draws rewinds in clubs every weekend + finds its way into the records bags of a diverse range of DJs.

With Youngstar having generously given Liminal the parts to work on this project, they got 3 artists from the lineup of their upcoming event to put their own unique spin on it. The result is, LS004, a 3 track remix EP paying homage to one of the most important tracks of the last 10 years & drawing connections between 2 generations of grime producers. Get the 3 remixes right HERE & stream my favorite right after the event deets.

Still bouncing off the walls from their last event in Jan, Liminal is back for their 4th installment at Rhythm Factory this Friday 20th April. Bringing together 2 of their musical heroes alongside some of their favourite artists at the moment.

Dark pop trio Charleston formed in London in early 2011. After an initial period of writing + gigging the band, comprising of Lily Gaskell (vocals & keys), Dan Wyatt (bass & MPC) & Charleston pioneer Josh Butters (drums & production) spent the next few months re-jigging their live set up. Having spent the end of 2011 writing & recording, Charleston begin 2012 with a bang, their 1st official release, “Piece by Piece”.

“Piece by Piece” is a song about regressing to a primal like state, forgetting everything you have formed or established. In a society where a fast paced existence is the norm, the idea of forgetting everything & just being human may be idealistic, but it’s certainly refreshing. Brooding drums, sawing synths + anthemic harmonies, Charleston’s debut is an enchanting & uplifting affair.

With the demo version having already picked up some exciting hype from the blogosphere “Piece by Piece” comes complete with remixes from two up & coming UK producers. Guy Furious & the one below by Sculptures, who adds a warped, tripped-‐out spin retaining the drama + suspense of the original.

The single drops on 02.06 via Good Bait & if you happen to be in London that day, don’t miss the single launch party at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch.
